I just recently joined the forum. I never heard of Sportsmobile until 2 years ago when friends bought a blue 1988 Ford E150 with 5.0L (302) V8 that they found for sale on the side of the road on the way to their apartment house.
Not yet. You don't very often find Sportsmobiles here.
We had a 1965 Chevy panel van quite a few years ago that we converted into a camper, but it didn't have a pop top. We got a cooktop, icebox and sink from a wrecked tent trailer and a propane heater from someone else.
Interesting and/or weird that the rear doors are cut in half and installed a rear window where the upper half of the doors would be.

I thought that was interesting, too. I couldn't tell if it had been customized or maybe originally a special order vehicle. The only stock Ford vehicle that I know of with this configuration is a Ford Excursion which was built on a 3/4 ton (F250) truck chassis.
It looks like a Dodge window to me, there were a series of Dodge vans with the one big door on the back. Regardless it's proof that you shouldn't always do, just because you can!
Also, I'm a little disappointed that there is no safety orange in the interior. After the matchy camping chairs I kind of expected it.
I don't know, I feel like one could put $7K to better uses, and I'm a diehard van kind of guy.

Interesting.....definitely not the same as a Ford Excursion. Custom maybe? Also, it looks like the window above the two small doors doesn't open. I could $7K to better uses, too. I like the two doors on the side and the doors on the back with or without glass. I'm not a fan of sliding doors because they can be a pain if they don't work right.
HEY! My van has that same exact back door/window combo! For a 2WD fan i can see it being a pain, but for a 4WD van you can't really use the upper half of the doors anyhow! I LOVE my mini doors!
