I know this is sold and that its primarily for the diesel engines. Do you think it would work to pull a 6.8 V-10 gas engine from what you saw of it?

It would, if the "bolt holes" at the bottom of the block line up appropriately.
This bracket is explicitly called out in the Factory Service Manual.
I got on ebay and bought my model year FSM and electrical manual. Those have paid off their weight in gold.
I looked how the gas engines come out in my 2009 service manual. The v10 did not exist in 2009.
The v8's in my service manual come out w/ a engine crane and a traditional lifting bracket.

Now I'm guessing, just doing cylinder ratio math, that the older v10 is probably longer, and not taller than the 5.4 v8's, and may come out the same way.
