Bummer to hear about the Truetrac. They seem really highly regarded and that's what UJOR uses in most of their front axle builds. What specifically went wrong?

And, any idea if the track width is any wider on the FF Dana 60 vs the SF Dana 60?

When it's working properly, the TT is great, but I've had issues with it chattering badly once it gets hot, to the point where, when making a sharp turn after a long period of highway travel it chatters so bad it will vibrate stuff off the console and sounds like its about to explode. I've been working with Eaton/ Detroit's head technical support guy, and the shop that installed it, and last week they put in a new one under warranty. I've only put about 50 miles on it, but sadly, it too is chattering. I also have one in the front, and it's been fine. A google search "Truetrac chatters" will turn up lots of other folks who have the same issues, but plenty of folks who say they never had an issue either. Hopefully, after I put on more miles it will calm down, but at this point, I'm pretty frustrated.

As for track width, the one I installed came out of a 2002 E350 and was a straight drop in replacement, identical in all respects including the width.

Arctic,
That is interesting to hear about the TT. I have them in my front and rear axles in my new setup and have been happy so far. Currently about 15K miles on them in the last six months.

Motovan,
I just posted the axle on EXPO, Thanks for that idea.

My FF D60 out of a 2001 E350 was the exact same WMS-WMS as the stock semi-float it replaced on my 2005 SMB build. ~67" as I recall. Thus, I used the same spacers to on the FF to match the width of the Dynatrac ProRock60 (70.75" wms-wms).

Oddly enough the rear axle stub on the Full Float was 32 spline and is the reason why most folks that do the conversion upgrade to 35 spline for strength. The semi-float is 35 spline. Go figure.

I put an ARB air locker in mine. Thought about a trutrac in the front like Chris at Ujoint likes to run but left it open.
