Here is our wish list

Sink, fridge

Things we want but not a deal breaker

Solar power
Outdoor shower
Stove
Inverter
Yakima rack
Swivel captains chair or chairs
Any help or advise on finding our new toy or specifics we need in it will be appreciated.

Re: In Search of our Sportsmobile
Doc,
Ham, Monk, Renny and Long Tom are on the look out.
Are you having it registered to Hidalgo Trading Company?
I am sure you are looking for Bronze, correct?
Bill Wilson
ps
Does Pat need one too?

Wow even I had to think for a moment. Must confess I'm not a big Doc fan, just last name Savage. A friend was a fan so he tagged me with Doc back in 82 and it stuck.

Re: In Search of our Sportsmobile
Be sure to check the Sportsmobile West used vehicle page.
That's where we found ours.

Re: In Search of our Sportsmobile
We have come across two different vehicles that fill all of our requirements and most of our wants. The issue on both of them is they are diesel. I've read so many stories about the 6 liter diesel I'm a bit gun shy. I called my guy at the Ford shop and he said you either have a good one or one that lives at the shop. I don't want to start another gas vs. diesel debate but is there a way to tell if the diesel engine is solid. I hate to travel from South Dakota to Califorina and guess since my diesel mechanic skills are limited at best. BTW, no diesel fear we have a Turbo diesel VW Jetta we love, mostly for the 45 mpg we get. Thanks for your advise.

Ask the seller to have the dealer provide him a copy of the full service and warranty records, and in turn have him provide them to you.
FWIW, I had to dump about $4500 into my '05 Passat TDI about a year and a half ago. Poor design by VW of a part of the oil pump system, but no preventative warranty work by VW. VW knows there's a problem and but won't do anything about it unless the part fails (which will more or less take out the entire engine).
