Fwiw, I have my interior trim panels off for some other interior work, and have asked the guys at the shop to glue a (ferrous) metal strip underneath the plastic window trim (not visible from inside van). You wouldn't have to take the panels off, but now that I've seen the panels come off, that's a much smaller deal that I used to think. Will keep everyone updated.
Thanks for the update scuba! I like the idea of hidden magnets that way it keeps it clean looking for when you don't have the window covering in.

We're back to making progress on this. Look for an update in a couple weeks.

Hi Scuba, thank you for the update, looking forward to seeing how they come out.
Still interested in side doors and back doors.

Quick question:
The original plan was to put magnets in the lower seam, and have those people (like me) with passenger vans glue a metal strip on the underside of the window sill, and possibly also behind the sides (requires removing the window trim to do this). This was recommended as the cleanest approach. Let me know if this still sounds good to people.

I'm asking because the magnets in the proper size & shape to accommodate the rest of the design are on the expensive side, and I just wanted to check.

Still planning on snaps at the top.

Exciting update: 1st prototype finished (this is actually version 2.0, as we abandoned 1.0 due to fabric issues).

This is a driver / passenger, which we used magnets on top+sides for, to take advantage of the existing metal trim. After testing, we may stick with this design for front two windows-- would give us the option of completely removing if desired, or keep stowed on the window's top edge (need to test stickiness and visibility impact in that case).

More updates next 2 weeks.

I'm also interested. You might want to consider a waitlist when you have a better idea on pricing and ordering processes.
