Interesting 4x4 Van - $5500

Not associated in any way, just came across it on Craigslist. Looks like an interesting project for someone.

I guess the seller is not aware that state law requires him to smog it in order to sell it.

it must be throwing a CEL. Ive never heard of a smog station not wanting to do their job... When i bought my van it was the first vehicle i bought it california. I didnt know the seller was supposed to handle the smogging. Luckily it passed. And i was already having the shop get in there to do a few things so he didnt charge me very much to run it.

Yep, to sell most vehicles in CA, it must have a current smog cert, which is valid for 90 days. There are exceptions for some diesels, family transfers, etc.

Looks like it might be a good project for someone. There appears to be rust on the bottom of the barn door as well as the hinges. It may have spent to much time on the beach.

Given the smog 'story' I would stay away unless I lived in a state without smog testing. Even then it may not run right or it wouldn't be an issue to get it to pass smog.

While living in CA for 30 years, I only had one shop not want to smog test any of my vehicles and that was due to an aftermarket header (even though it had a CARB number stamped on it).
