Looking for 4x4 conversion recommendations for 2 vans
Fellow forum members, we have a couple of SMBs that we would like to get converted into 4x4s.
First until is a 2005 Ford RB with the 6.0L
Second is a 2006 Ford EB with the V10
Things to consider (in order of priority)
1. Quality
2. Time to complete/availability
3. Price
Any direction/recommendations are welcome.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Quigley will convert a van that old. Same holds true for Sportmobile (one of the few who uses the Atlas transfer case).
IMO, you're two best options, in no particular order, are U Joint and Quadvan.
That said, if you're looking to have them converted to 4x4 and then sell, will you get you money back and more? Maybe. That's a tough call, but a lot depends how long the current camping/vanning craze lasts as places across the country open back up after the pandemic.

Because you are located in the eastern US I would recommend Ujoint. Great reputation especially if you plan to sell them 4x4 converted as a dealer.

Most companies have left the older econoline 4x4 business. As mentioned, the only one left is Ujoint for the most part. If you want them to do it, its going to be $25k and I would imagine at least a 6 month wait.

Yes, I’ve contacted Ujoint. They said February of next year. Their rough estimate was about 25k.

If you need it sooner than that, you may be able to get them to ship you a kit sooner then find a qualified local mechanic who has less of a backlog.
You could also contact Quadvan. I know they were booked out about 4 months last time I checked, but I know they do econoline work.

Herb, I believe you’re correct, Quigley doesn’t seem to be converting the older vans.
As for the economic aspect, while it is true that we are in the class B RV business, it’s also a passion of ours (especially SMBs). We are 3 brothers that started the business about 15 years ago at very young ages.

I was waiting for this comment . But again, it’s prioritized. Quality is number one, trumping price and lead time.
