My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

So driving east on highway 36 in northern california two weeks ago, and around a blind turn comes a 22 year old kid in a 1988 ford f-250 dually in my lane!!! Swerved to avoid a head on collision, and his truck hit me at the drivers door, and rubbed hard all the way down my driver's side and out the back bumper!!! The insurance company has declared the van totaled, and is going to pay me out for the estimated value (about 15,ooo). I have had my van for three years, and lived in it full time for about a year and a half---until now. I am working and saving some money, and looking to buy another sportsmobile!!! I think my limit will be about 30,000.....so what I am looking for is someone with a bitchin rig that wants to get rid of it, and is more concerned about a loving new owner for the van than they are about the cash $$$!! So come on, hook me up!!! hahahaha!! seriously bummed though----camping in the mountains until the insurance money comes.....fotos of the crashed rig to follow soon......ALOHA!!!!

Re: My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

If you are (were) living out of it fulltime, his insurance company should be covering lodging for you as well until you get set back up. Can't hurt to ask for, or rather demand, it.

Can you buy it back once totaled and salvage bumpers, accessories,...?

Re: My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

I will be buying the van back for one dollar....the damage is 90 percent body....so I will be trying to sell the old girl for her quigley tranny and decent running engine!!! I am giving most of the small parts and camp stuff to my friend who is building a home build....I am praying to the van gods for some good fortune!!!

Re: My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

You might be better off just replacing the sheetmetal than starting over.

Re: My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

From your description, that van sounds salvageable. Find a competent body shop or restoration shop and have it fixed. Buy it back from the insurance company and keep it.

Re: My Sportsmobile got totaled!!!

I have a 2007 e-350 diesel with 13,500 miles on for sale, it is not a sportsmobile but it is very customized. If you are going to get your van back from the insurance company with all the goodys then you could have someone put all your stuff right onto this van and probably be under $30,000. If you are not interested but you might want to sell the 4x4 stuff from your van let me know.

$22,000 obo
