"No Longer" WTB SMB w/ pop top 4x4, diesel or V10, *EB, EB50

So we've had a handful of wonderful years with the '93 SMB. It has served us well... so much so that we are looking to upgrade. I'm in the market for a 4x4 SMB, pop top, ideally EB, *but would consider RB. The van is our tow vehicle for both the track car (enclosed 14ft trailer) and 18ft direct drive boat - both of which are right around 5K lbs.

One of our biggest challenges with the current layout is that my wife has to sit in the back while my 5 y/o gets to ride shotgun (no passenger airbag) in her booster seat. Great for my daughter, but no so much for the wife. We think we want an EB50 so that we can put my daughter back on the bench and allow my wife to ride up front for a change.

I'm on the east coast, but am willing to travel and pay shipping costs should the right rig come along.

Show me what you got mid $40's. Thanks.

Pics for clicks.

This looks like a good candidate for you.

Will you be selling your current van?

Virtually no counter space, but has an interior shower.

thanks - I did see this - def a nice rig, but the the shower kills it for me. I guess I could rip it out, but want to keep looking.

Yes - will be selling mine once I secure the new one. We will continue to use it until then. It's been great.

Re: WTB SMB w/ pop top, 4x4, diesel or V10, *EB, EB50

So I've been talking with cyclesomatic regarding his 05 SMB on offer. It's very close to exactly what we are looking for. He's in Oregon, and I'm in New Jersey. I'm considering one of two options...

A. Fly out to Oregon to see the van in person. If all is good, make the transaction happen, fly back to NJ and have the van shipped (approx $2800) to me.

B. Pack up 8days worth of travel gear, my wife and kid and fly the family out to Oregon to view the van and most likely buy. From there we would set out on an 8 or 9 day trek (2900 miles) back across the US at a moderate pace.

Obviously option B is a big ask, but also the most desirable since, as a family we've never done this big of a road trip.

I'm looking for two things from this post:

1. Any comments, concerns, suggestions regarding options A & B above.
2. Is there anyone near Cyclesomatic (Corvallis, OR) that could possibly take a look at the van for me and give me a solid review? He's been very forthcoming and we've had a couple of lengthy phone conversations, but short of me seeing it in person this would be the next best thing.

I'd pm forum member CarringB, he lives in Corvalis, Oregon and is very knowledgeable to say the least…..

Thank you, Pete - I did contact CarringB per your recommendation - I hope to work something out with him. In the meantime, I'm trying hard to do my research and stay informed.

Just listed my 2005 RB-50 for sale. A bit higher than you wanted but a great van.
