Rear Ultra Bumper Box - Xtreme Fab

Okay! Beastie 3 needed a new aluminum rear box after Johnny scooped up the original one we put up for sale a couple of weeks ago.

The Aluminess boxes are high quality items that work well, but we were running into a few issues with the door opening width and height that necessitated something custom.

I worked with Mikey at XtremeFab to come up with something we both felt would be really cool. The primary needs were:

1. An opening large enough to allow the awesome 22" Partner Steel stove to come out without taking EVERYTHING else out of the box. (The Aluminess box opening is just under 20" so the stove had to go in diagonally first, and everything else loaded on top of that.)
2. Might as well have the same ease of in and out for the BBQ.
3. Tall enough to still fit some stuff in, like the Propane Tank and tool boxes, with the BBQ and stove in place.

Well, as we all know, why stop there. So, let's make a slide out shelf so we can cook on the stove right out of the box, and add a couple of fold down shelves on the door to provide prep surface and a place for a beer! And since the box might need to be able to accommodate other things if the BBQ isn't coming along, let's have that shelf pivot up with spring loaded locks both up and down. And of course, the all important rails around the top.

Result is a custom 34" tall box plus 3" tall rails, 26" wide and 16" deep. The opening is 23 1/2"" wide and almost 32" tall. The welded edges are are overlapped and welded inside and out. Two shelves on the door, a 4" tall slide out drawer at the bottom of the box with a fixed shelf above that. Then there is the pivoting shelf 11 1/2" above the lower shelf. There is still 18+" above the pivoting shelf. It is a sweet unit!

If anyone is interested, Mike is up for making more of these as long as we can get three to four ordered at a time. He is also up for making more "normal" bumper boxes at very competitive prices.

These Ultra Boxes are all aluminum, powder coated black with one folding shelf on the door, a slide out drawer with fixed shelf at the bottom, and one pivoting inside shelf are $1400, ready to mount on your swing arm. Locking door latch with two keys. The shelf heights can be set at any heights you want within design allowance. Please contact me and I will make the arrangements as he and I are working together on these. Lead time is about four weeks. Located North Hollywood. Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

Re: The Door Shelves - we are making eight production assemblies that will fit on the door of the Aluminess Deluxe Box, it can mount above for or below the latch.

The shelf of will be 11" deep and will nest in the "frame" piece which is about 19" wide to clear the opening when the door closes. The assembly can attach to the door with small button head Allen screws or possibly 3M super strong double sided tape. Looking at black anodized finish for this. The door is kept in the upright and locked position by two SS spring loaded pin knobs. All first class stuff.

Should be ready in a few weeks. Let me know if you are interested!

Is there a 'door talon' to keep the door open and stable? What about if the swingarm is open?

Rally- We have a couple of ideas for when the swingarm is "open". The arms Mike has on his trailer doors look like a good solution but we decided to let me use it for a while to see what feels best and add later.

Have to bring Beastie over so you can have a look and hear your ideas! Underfloor box is in, too. Maybe when WhitH is down next week?
