Renogy 20A Rover MPPT solar charge controller

Selling a used Renogy 20amp MPPT solar charge controller. It works BUT the solar + attachment point is jammed (not sure the technical term for this). Basically the screw that tightens the piece of metal against the solar wire is stuck in the fully closed position. The screw must be stripped or jammed, I'm not sure. I've tried every way of finagling it to loosen, but can't get it to budge.

I already contacted Renogy and it's a known issue for this model - they won't do anything to help because I purchased it as a new, open box model. My guess is that you could replace the plastic unit for the solar +/- ports (it's soldered to the control board), solder the solar wire directly to the port (wouldn't be great for future removal or somehow get the **** screw to loosen up.

I already replaced the controller, so just hoping that somebody can fix this and make use of it. I really liked the unit for the roughly two years that it was in my van - unlike a lot of charge controllers, it has ports for your system's 12v +/- connections, which allows it to function as a battery monitor that can tell you your 12v pull in addition to all of the standard solar info. all parts are included - the photo shows the faceplate not fully re-assembled, but i have all of the little screws and buttons to put it fully together (just had it taken apart to show the issue).

Asking $35 + shipping? They sell for $110 new. Make an offer? Located in seattle, 98115.

Those green terminal blocks are generic Phoenix Connectors. If you can solder, replace the Chinese junk generic versions with Brand Name Phoenix connector terminals.

They are readily available from Digikey or Mouser for about 50 cents each for 2 conductor terminals.

nyyankee: Can you provide the version number of this controller? It's likely on a label somewhere.....should be something like 010407 or 010408

Thanks
