The easiest way, that protects everyone, in my opinion is this: Get the needed info from seller to have funds wired to seller's account. Set up the transaction with your bank to it's all ready to go, but do not wire the money. Get there, check the rig out, if satisfied, call your bank and have the funds sent through. Once the $ is safely in the seller's account, grab the title, share a healthy handshake and be on your way.

I've considered remote transactions in the past and always just ended up taking a flight.

As long as you have an account with a bank that has nationwide branches, you can just withdraw cash locally with the seller present and hand it to them. Safe environment for everyone, and they can see it's legitimate cash.

Almost forgot when I'm buying or selling I'm always packing for everyone to see unless I had to fly.

Last rig I sold 2 guys showed up at around 10:30 pm, when they jumped out of their rig they looked right down at my side stiffened up and one said nice Springfield:-o better safe then sorry
