SMB pop top for sale (SOLD!)

We are upgrading our top to a high profile CCV top and are selling our manual SMB pop top, its in very good shape with one minor tear in the canvas that I have put a patch over, the paint is in ok condition, it has started to peel, especially up front, roof rails included. The interior bed is in the brown fabric that is in very good shape, I will take some more pics when I have the chance, canvas is tan with green paint. Asking $2500, and will include all the hardware. We are still trying to figure out when we will be getting the new top, but it will be by May. We're in Colorado, a local pickup would be preferred, but I can have it packed up and shipped.

Re: SMB pop top for sale

Yes, that was easy. I had already talked with someone after seeing my reply in the "too good to be true" topic. He passed, I guess I should learn to keep my mouth shut, can't help it, I'm a talker! I talked him right into a CCV top!!

I have replied to checksicks above, from WA. He is interested and is getting back to me in the next day or so, I will keep this updated as to availability. Thanks!

Calebmogul, you'll be next in line.....

Re: SMB pop top for sale

Hi all. I just spoke with the seller, great guy. I live in Bellingham, Wa and am wondering if anyone would be able and willing to perform the install (or point me in right direction) of this bad boy in my area if I have it shipped out? Should be complete and ready to go. Little cutting, little welding??

I've already learned a lot on this forum and can't wait to get a poptop on my 05 E-350 RB. It's got the Salem Kroger 4x4 and a 6.0 powerstroke. So far we've used it for camping and hauling the bike to the track. Looking forward to more adventures!

Re: SMB pop top for sale

no welding, just cutting........and drilling. You'll also need butyl tape and probably some bulb seal (both available at McMaster Carr). The anti-scuff roof tape is available from Sportsmobile.

You may also want to consider the cro-mo tubing mod for the crossbars.

I have a top waiting to go on my van, and I am planning on lots of photo documentation when the time comes to install, hopefully in the next few weeks.

I'm planning on using a pneumatic air chisel for most of the cutting, and using a sawsall with a metal blade for the ribs/stiffeners. The SMB cut job on the donor van looks like it was done with a chainsaw, so I'm hoping to do better.

I need to paint my top (already have the supplies), install the headliner, lights and edge seal before I cut the hole.

I also have created a drawing of the hole cut-out from the donor van, so if someone needs it, just PM. It would be great if the hole from this van is measured and documented, as it would be another data point.

The removal thread is here viewtopic.php?f=24&t=11764&hilit=popping

Re: SMB pop top for sale

You will just need to cut the roof, screw the frame and the canvas.
Here are some pictures of the process:

I installed an EB on a RB so needed to modify some parts...

Good luck with your installation.

Re: SMB pop top for sale

Andrew, the warehouse rack shelving is a great idea!

What did you use to cut the roof hole?

Re: SMB pop top for sale

Thanks for chiming in guys, these answered many of the questions and uncertainties of the removal/install process I was not certain of. Do the 2 side frame rails that house the springs comes out easily enough? A little cutting?
