So less than 2 years ago I had a Sony XAV-AX40000 installed in my 2002 SMB.
While traveling to CCV to have a new top installed - the Sony suddenly stopped advancing to the next song. Even when manually trying to advance the song(s) I hit the brick wall ! Turning off/on several times - no luck !
It's stuck on a Beatles song - so not life threatening - but would really like to get it operating properly again.
Anybody out there got any ideas on how to diagnose / cure this "virus" without scrapping this + $1,000 system ? Appreciate any assistance !
Thanks all - battery has been disconnected in the past - not necessarily since play back fault. Don't know if firmware updates the Sony when phone updates ? Unit had been playing just fine - and then issue developed - Music has been playing thru Apple Car Play - from Cloud - originally from MP3 files copied from CD's into iTunes/Apple Music - then source playback comes from the Apple Cloud.

What about other sources, or same source but different recording? Does every song played, regardless of source, do this?
Russ, it's obvious Van is now damaged goods...I'd get what you can for it once you get it back from having the CCV Top installed (50% off sounds about right since you're odometer has probably rolled past the 40K mile mark by now). Call me, I'll make you an offer!

Most decks require a sort of manual update, often by downloading the update onto a thumbdrive and then plugging it into the unit's USB port and updating from there. It's totallly different from your phone's OS updating.
