If anyone else has a set to sell reasonably I’m interested too. I’m in PA but will pay for shipping if needed.

RockAuto is my go to for lots of maintenance parts but the OEM mirror quality vs. aftermarket is pretty huge. I'm trying to make the same call right not whether to risk used OEM or just go aftermarket. I'm looking for a perfect set of OEM powered towing mirrors for the van. They aren't cheap.

As big a hassle and time suck it can be eBay can be a huge source of gently used or NOS OEM Ford mirrors like you're seeking. You might also try Tascaparts.com to see if they have any laying around needing a new home.

There are a few good aftermarket suppliers of the OEM type mirrors, the brand TYC comes to mind.

I decided to just keep my perfectly good "paddle" style power mirrors. Went to the junk yard and found a "sail" type example and compared the 2 designs. It seems the difference essentially is the sail design is just the paddle design turned 90 degrees. I'm not sure one is really any better than the other. Has anyone tried both and can say which one is best? (Not including tow mirrors - different animal and for me mirrors that large are not needed).

Back some years ago when I first had my 2003 E-250 with the stock OEM "dual element" mirrors (hated 'em) and swapped them out for almost new set of the extendable towing mirrors, also Ford OEM--hated them as well.

IMHO they were only useful for towing anything wider than the van body, they provided nothing more like a better or bigger rear view. Almost immediately removed those and re-sold for a profit.

What I did was to convert my 2003 and 2005 "dual element" stock mirrors to those provided on 2007 and later, a single larger mirror element. I've since added a heater element that somewhat mimics a factory set-up making it nice having the mirrors de-ice themselves.

I like my current set up and it was carried over from my 2003 that was sold early last year.

Thank you JWA. Question.. the single large element mirrors don't have the small convex blind spot mirror. Do you miss that feature, or do the large single element mirrors provide some blind spot visibility?

There is also the 2010+ mirror that has the blind spot mirror in the top outside corner.
