The tape sews to the curtain at the top, with a flap above the tape that drags on the overhead, sealing out the light.

If you aren’t after the thermal benefits of reducing space SMB also makes one that goes over the dashboard/windshield and both driver and passenger windows. This allows use of the swivel seats and all that front space to hang out. My current van has this setup and i normally add some Reflectix against the windows to help.

On my last van I used a moving blanket and some clamps to make a divider when running the 110 AC at camp. I haven’t needed it yet but plan to do the same if I need to run the Starcool and sleep down below in hot weather. It isn’t perfect but reduces the area to cool or heat and definitely works.

You might need to start a new thread: Ideas for a privacy curtain. Maybe someone will offer up their old SMB curtain in that thread.

privacy curtains

I just got back from a van gathering in San Diego. I saw a lot of variety in privacy curtains but not all were black out or insulated. I definitely want the dual purpose and am leaning towards 2 panels for easier access between cab and living area. I liked the track method (Ive attached a photo) and am deciding between that and snaps. If anyone has ideas or photos, that would be great. Thanks!

SMB uses the track setup I believe. Advantage to that is fast and easy deployment. Negative is the curtain stays attached to the track and needs to have a place to store while attached to the track. Advantage to the snap idea is the curtain can be taken down and folded up to be stored someplace more out of the way.
