Wanted: Tire Chains for 285-75-16

Hi, I am going on a trip soon and may need tire chains. Anyone want to part with theirs?
I would like to get the RUD grip chains (model 2532) or similar.

Figured I would try to buy used first.

I'm not willing to part with mine, but you are more than welcome to borrow them if you want to come down to San Diego.

I really appreciate that. For what I would spend in gas to come down, I may as well buy some of my own. Thank you for the offer though, it's most appreciated.

Steve: Depends on when you need them and when I can pick up my van from Quadvan AND what wheel they decide to put on my van. John and Blaine and I had a crazy discussion about wheels and I left a final decision to them. I have two new sets of the RUDS up there I "may" not be able to use. RD

Wow, you left it up to John and Blaine?

You're going to end up with 36" swampers.

I wish I had gone with 285's, but didn't think about it until the last minute and it would have involved re-gearing. I'm okay with what I've got. Probably better off, in truth.

They are great guys up there.

No way I really left it to them. I had decided on 17" and they bought the tires only. Then I went up there and John was convincing me to use 18". Blaine told him to hold on. He had already bought the NITTO's for me. So I let them fight it out. I picked the wheels.

Since we could not get RUD for our size tires, we ended up getting two pair of "SCC Super Z" chains through Vulcan Tire online. They got to us in a small window, and even with a UPS failure, the Vulcan customer service folks came through.

They are not the same as the RUD, but similar and look plenty heavy duty.
