Re: WTB: Diesel SMB camper

2 more cents worth! I started looking for my van in 2006. Joined the forum in 2007 and drove my new used 2005 RB home built from Quadvan back to Santa Rosa in the spring of 2008. I could not find what I wanted for sale anywhere. What I learned by staying tuned to the forum was invaluable. I knew within a few thousand what I should pay for what I wanted. As others have said watch the trends. I ended up buying a used stocker and adding 4wd and an SMB penthouse. My interior is not factory or sexy or high tech. It resembles your neighbors garage with shelves and clear plastic bins for all of the crap you need to camp and travel in relative comfort. It has a high end fridge freezer and solar to run it. No aluminess bumpers, no winch, no electric penthouse( I want all of these but....). I've had so much fun and enjoyment in the entire process from the day my wife said " ok let's get one" to yesterday when I decided to order an aluminess storage box for the rear passenger side. Mostly though it's the people I've met on various adventures with other van owners. A van will find you and that's when the fun starts. Good luck!

If you search "1995 service van" in the Orange County Craigsfist, there's a real cream puff for 7k!!!!

Re: WTB: Diesel SMB camper

Welp I found my van! Pulled her in the driveway last night. Got it for a steal and am so excited it doesn't even seem real. 1999, E-350, 7.3 diesel, 4x4, full camper, 181k (stove, sink, fridge, hot water heater, rear shower, furnace). [photo][/photo]

Yippee!! Well Done!

Those of us who are looking/pseudo-looking are green with envy.

Re: WTB: Diesel SMB camper

I was with a person today looking at a 2003 EB SMB 4x4 with under 12k on the odometer and it still had the new car smell. It was owned by a little old lady and is almost the twin of my SMB.

Ya its sold and he will be posting once all the paperwork is done.
