You might want to think about customs made of plywood which is much lighter than the particle board that is used for most SMB cabinets that I've seen. Some may be made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). Plywood is also less susceptible to water damage.
A 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Particle Board weighs 85 lbs
A 4x8 sheet of 3/4" MDF weighs 97 lbs
A 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Birch Plywood weighs 60 lbs
Alternatively, if you're a DIYer, you can even repurpose residential kitchen cabinets with some modification. I did this when I had to replace a base cabinet in a travel trailer. Home Depot and Lowes has a variety of choices.

Thanks for that! We used the birch for the bed base on our last build and loved it.
We used Ikea cabinets on our last build and they were great
We would certainly like to maintain the SMB aesthetic on this one.

AGREE. Even better but pricey is bamboo plywood. Bamboo you can start at 3/8" to 1/2" and even lower your weight more.
