CA doesn't do the sniffer test for vehicles 96 and older now.

I still have to confirm what the regulations are now. I would hate to buy one and not be able to register it for whatever reason.

So maybe you're right that as long as it's used and pass smog even without CA Smog equip, it can be registered here.

That's all about 'new' vehicles. Anything with over 7500 miles is not new. You're fine, as long as the vehicle has all OEM smog equipment.

My van is a 2008....

I beleave this one is still available. It's a little more than $40k, but it is in CA, a low mile 2014, and 4x4.
