A real Air Filter for my shop compressor

My shop air compressor (like most home sized units) came with felt pad for an air filter. I wanted something better.

Here is the felt pad next to the real filter. The felt pad has a plastic housing the real filter has metal.

Here is the inside of the filter.

The felt/plastic unit mounts with a gasket and two bolts. For awhile I pondered how to adapt the new filter assy, til I noticed the compressor was also threaded for 1/2" pipe. Since the new filter has a 1" pipe fitting on it, it was simple matter of a couple pipe fittings to fit them together.

Here is the filter on the compressor.

I have two more filters if anyone wants to do a similar upgrade to their air compressor.

Mike

Don't know why, but it won't allow me to see your photos. Says I'm not authorized to access them. Must be some really top secret air filters....

Can't imagine why that would be.

Anyway, you can see them in my gallery. They are the most recent additions.
