Repairs under the diesel engine warranty (6yrs, 100,000 miles), except for a $100 deductable.

Re: Always an adventure

Sounds like "updated design" is a frequently used phrase. I wonder if my 2008 has all those updated designs?

Not a chance Philip, Ford started over with the 6.4L. Just kidding (I hope).

Re: Always an adventure

[quote="JMan"] Just a side note - how many people with the 6.0 have upgraded/switched out their turbos to a Garrett or similar to get rid of the problematic Ford turbos?

Not yet, but I might... I am on Ford turbo #3 at just under 42,000 miles. Until the 100,000 miles engine coverage ends I'll let Ford cover the repair costs. After that, why would I buy a Ford turbo??? I will have to carefully check out the aftermarket turbos, for cost, installation problems in vans vs. pickups, and how much software tweaking can be done? I don't want more power. More fuel mileage would be nice, but all I really care about is having the thing not need more turbos!!!!!!!

Lovely. A thread I don't want to... well.

Going home and bang. No movement just a whine. Shifted the transfer case to front wheel drive only and got the same results. Any clues? Got it to one of my places at least. Can't say enough about Kelso's towing... they've been the best in the area. Didn't even charge me tonight but I do know then quite well. I don't have a lot of issues with the 6.0, it's always something else.

Good thing you have a nice new garage to put it in.

A loud noise leads me to think it's not the 6.0, but definitely need more info once you get your head around this issue.

It just barely wants to move. It moves the same in any gear. I switch the transfer case into front wheel drive, locked the hubs and it was the same. The whining sound when it's trying to move bothers me. I just had the transfer case serviced several months back and the Transmission a year and a half ago. Haven't checked the trans fluid level but it was OK a month ago. Transmission temp was fine. When it "kicked out" while driving it kinda felt like a jolt. I figured the T-case popped into neutral and I thought something shoved one of the sticks into neutral...nope, not so lucky.

Anybody with a good guess? Looks like the only clue at this point is the sound when it's trying to move.

Chock the rear wheels, place t/c in neutral, transmission in neutral, lock hubs, raise front end, and spin the front tires. Does the front driveshaft rotate?

Will at least tell you if there's an issue with your differentials.
