Another Bill Burke 4wd class for big vans

Disclaimer: I have no commercial interest or any benefit from you going (or not).

That, said, this does look like fun.
I'd love to see a Fuso make our vans look delicate and petite

Bill Burke's Training Courses - Call 970-858-3468 to register. 50%
deposit with Visa or Mastercard will reserve your space.
Prices include up to 2 adults in vehicle.

Big Truck Training Adventure Moab - May 8-10 $525./vehicle
This training session is 2 1/2 days long and is for 4x4 van conversions, truck
campers Quigley, Sportsmobile, Earth Roamer, Fuso, Camper trucks, expedition and
other full size rigs. Limit 6 vehicles.

Involves driving over actual terrain in the Moab area utilizing established roads that
are off the beaten path. Roads similar to what you would encounter when traveling on
your adventure. We will camp out in route so this trip can be a shake-down cruise if
you need it to be. Let’s get the bugs out!!

Technical aspects of throttle and brake modulation in technical terrain, steering
control, vehicle dynamics for over-size high CG vehicles. Skill development for driver
control and comfort in uneven terrain will be emphasized. Recovery training will include
many winch scenarios, use of the Hi-Lift Jack, straps and “out of the box” techniques.
We will work on Stuck Assessment and safe extraction so safe use of equipment will be
second nature for you.

Field repair topics for vehicle, tires and equipment will be practiced and demonstrated.
Diagnostics of engine and vehicle problems will be covered for base familiarity of your
particular vehicle.

Camping and camp set up with cooking suggestions and food handling as well as
camp site selection and awareness for self protection in the event of perceived threats
from outside influences.

As with all Bill's training sessions we will cover: vehicle preparation, field fixes,
map & compass/GPS navigation, driving in technical terrain and driving on
adverse dirt roads, vehicle recovery, self-reliability, medical issues, back country
skills and camping awareness - everything you need to know to be prepared for
a safe, fully prepared and fun expedition!

Re: Another Bill Burke 4wd class for big vans

I'm signed up along with at least one other SMB from the forum, so I will have a trip report from this training. Unfortunately, I have to deposit Mrs. Ed in Montana in Cody, Wyoming for a work conference on the following Monday night, so I will miss the forum meet up in Moab.

Work gets in the way of life.

I can't make it this year, but hope he continues to offer these in the future. Looks like an excellent program.

Get enough (8-ish) people together, and Bill can put together a SMB only course for you, if that's what you want. Bill makes a circuit through the country, so match up your desired location to his travel schedule and you're in business.

Good to know, thanks.

Of course to get 8 I'll need help from others on this forum.

Something to think about for 2010.

If timing is right I'd be in. Work dictates my navigators time off.

My husband and I would love to join this training in 2010! We are in NE Washington but CA has been home too. Maybe we'll have our Deavers by then! --Alanna and Sandy
