If I didn't have a want to do some of the harder off road trails, I would have gone that route instead. Driving the ecoboost V6 at altitude is awesome. It's basically a domestic Sprinter, but without the upkeep of the diesel and a more dense dealer network (plus more local mechanics will touch a Ford vs Mercedes), or the weird fwd drivetrain of the Promaster. Also, for snowy road conditions, I'd take awd over a locked center 4x4 most days (until it gets over 16''-18'' or so).
