Back in the Van life again!!!
My van was smashed by an F250 dually. The insurance company said it was beyond reasonable repair....then they paid me out, and sold me the van back. It drives fine, just needs a new driver's door which I found at a pick and pull for $100. I am back in my van!!! Needless to say, I am stoked!!!!

Glad it worked out. Just give 'er a good buffing with some wax, it'll be fine.

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
hahaha!!!! not quite what my van looks like....its nice because now I can just care a little less about her! almost rolled her over yesterday on what was easily the steepest, muddiest trail I ever tried driving. had to get pulled out by my friends tow truck---but damn I felt tough!!

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
Congratulations on getting your van back and back on the road.
Try to keep the rubber side down.

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
It was written off because of a door?

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
Yeah, I thought you were going to sell it off after you bought it back from the insurance company?

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
From the pics in your album, it looks like it needs more than just a door. Did you do any other body work on the panel behind the door? Any current pics?
At any rate, great news that you're back in the van.

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
Just needs a door??????
Wow, please don't take this wrong....but I think you need more than a door?
I would have the frame checked to make sure you are tracking straight with the axles.
Still if you got a killer deal on the buy back then wheel the crap out of it and no worries about any further trail damage

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
If the new door fits and closes I wouldn't worry about frame damage. Cutting that section behind it out and welding a new one would be tough, but just because you'd have to drop the gas tank to be safe. I can't decide if the insurance co. had a screw loose or just wanted to cut bait out of laziness... or, I hate to say it, but taking advantage of van man's age and desire to have his rig back (happened to me when I was younger and it still bothers me!).
You should talk to bettyford as when Ron had the blue Ford he did something like that on the passenger side- welding a new body section on to repair damage. There is a post around here about it somewhere.
So, yeah, I think it's awesome- plus we'll all know it's you if we pass you on the highway!

Re: Back in the Van life again!!!
As long as the door closes on the B pillar the rest looks to be cosmetic. The best thing is that you're no longer homeless.
