Re: Broken down in Page AZ

I really don't like to break down while traveling, so I sympathize with you, especially considering the town!

You are making the best of a bad situation by renting a car for sightseeing while your van is in the shop.

Good luck and hope to meet you on the road again.

Mike

Re: Broken down in Page AZ

I get to Page reasonably often (because of Lake Powell) and would be interested in the name of the shop (for future reference) since they seem good.

Must feel good to be making definite progress!

Gladly Viva, but I don't want to jump to conclusions, either good or bad. I'll reserve final judgement until I'm rolling smoothly again.
Meanwhile. Here's Rusty Lite, or Mini SMB. I like Rusty Lite.

Problem diagnosed! Bad fuel pump as suspected. I'm planning on thermal wrapping my fuel lines too.

I understand, Scotty. Let's hope they end up deserving a glowing review!

Glad you have a diagnosis, and Rusty Lite to get you around in the meantime.

Broken down in Page AZ

For those not wise enough to own a 6.0 Powerstroke, this app may come in handy to protect your troublesome fuel pump:

Re: Broken down in Page AZ

I have used rubber tubing / hose split lengthwise as a sort of " thermal wrap " or insulation for hard fuel lines . secure with a few zip ties. Here is a link to a "quick tip" how to easily cut a slit in lengths of rubber hose / tube . In addition to the " thermal wrap " you may consider installing an inline fuel cooler on the low pressure return fuel line to the tank to further reduce the fuel temp inside the tank . Hope the remainder of your vacation is trouble-free .

Zeta, yep, I've used it for years, but only recently for the van.

Jack, thanks!

Marc, hiking the Zion Narrows today.
Pick up van tomorrow.

Bummer! Hope it all works out. Years ago when driving to Alaska in our Isuzu Trooper we had the trans go out in Billings, Mt. Did the same as you and rented a car and toured around. Glad you are at least still seeing things.
