Dam it

The arizona side access to Hoover dam is closed. You can only access the dam from nevada.
I did a film shoot there yesterday and found this out the hard way.
This is a done deal according to the dam cops.

(I loved saying that all day ("dam cops")

Re: Dam it

That's funny. Sort of like being able to call my female dog bitch with impunity.

Re: Dam it

Don't forget to get a Dam Dog at the Dam Snack Bar while you're there.

Too bad the Dam Tour doesn't go through the Penstock tunnels anymore as shown in the National Lampoon Vegas Vacation video. Now the tour only goes down to the overlook of the turbines.

Having done some consulting work with the Bureau of Reclamation at Hoover Dam, I've been all through the tunnels inside the actual dam. If you ever saw the movie "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford, the tunnels inside the dam are like the one he went through in the movie. There are openings in the dam like the one he dove off of, but they are covered with vents. It's a lot of fun to walk through those tunnels, knowing you are in a place that very few people have ever seen.

Re: Dam it

One time when I was driving around in that area I saw a diner that claimed to be "The Best Restaurant by a Dam Site"

This place has the "Best Catfish by a Dam Site" http://www.oakdaledaminn.com/
