Disaster averted thanks to good people.

Quick little story,
I rode my KLR 650 about 120 miles off road yesterday including about 15 miles of street to get to back country,
When I got home I realized I had lost my bag mounted on the rear of the bike

In that bag was
Wallet (with $200 emergency money)
Credit cards
Check book with my Balance
3 knives=$400
Eye Glasses $700
Snap on tools=who knows how much$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Camera=$600
2 Jacket's.$500
Smith & Wesson 38special. Gift from dad.
Spot homing device. $300
1 PB&J
Not having to explain to the wife=Priceless

Yep I was freaked out.
I jumped back on and retraced my steps Some of them twice you can see my tracks back and forth.
No luck didn't see it.
After almost throwing up I decided to turn it over and call the Police and report the gun Lost.
As soon as I got into cell service I called the cops.
The dispatcher that answered said Hi Ron you looking for something? (small town I know almost everyone)
Someone had found my bag and called leaving their phone number. 1 hour later I had my bag with nothing missing.
I tried to give him a C note but he wouldn't take it.
His name is Bill and he is my new best friend thank God or who ever you pray to for people like Bill.
I love Jackson Hole and the people that live here.
Shopping for a new Mounting system.
I carry so much stuff just in case I crash or something brakes and I cant get out.
I was riding alone yesterday.

Cool story. Turn your spot tracker on next time. Friend lost a bag of stuff in Baja on our last trip, lucky the spot was on the bag. Went back and retrieved it the next day by plugging the tracking coordinates into a GPS.

I would'a kept it...na just jokin!

I found a ladies pocket book in a shopping cart loaded with C-cards and a butt load of cash in one of my home towns parking lots. I was afraid she would claim something was missing, so I ran in the store and dropped it off anonymously. I kinda freaked for a while until I read an article in the paper about faith in human nature about what I did. Wonderful Actually I looked at it as karma…but I never did win the lotto Oh well.

Good for you Dave!

We've done similar. Found a wallet with $600 and several uncashed paychecks from McDonalds and about 20 little pieces of paper with phone numbers. We spent an hour calling disconnected phones and people who never heard of the guy. Finally found somebody who knew him and where he worked. Took the wallet to the right McD's and got tears from the guy.
