The van runs on an electric motor, but the rig has an on-board gasoline-powered generator that gives the van an effective range of 350 miles per tank of gasoline. In terms of range, this is no different than many gasoline-powered vans.

However, it has the torque of a diesel, and gets about 50 mpg. It also comes with an on-board inverter, and 120v and 220v power outlets. Not bad if you want to whip out your welder in the middle of nowhere...

"The VTRUX Extended Cab has a curb weight of 7,250 lbs, delivering a 2,800 lb payload capacity (2,200 lb in the passenger configuration)."

Interesting, but definitely comes at some payload capacity.

And not yet commercially available. At this point, not much more than an interesting concept. But interesting it is, as it represents an ongoing shift in the overall market, and gives us a hint that things might be very different in another ten years. I am very curious to see where this industry goes.

Reminds me of an RC car. Not the same.

Like some of the new, well insulated sports cars that add exhaust sounds through the steroe system, or add a resonator specifically so the drive can hear the exhaust note.

It's a concern for the pedestrians. They (electric vehicles) can sneak up on ya. Silly about wanting to make fake sounds though. Maybe they'll let you pick the sound. I'll go with the jet engine

The most famous electric 4x4 off road vehicle (maybe not as well known by the youth and youngers).

Last winter my beloved Subaru STi was totaled by a distracted driver which I've been able to replace with a 2017 Chevy Volt. The Volt is loosely an electric car with a gas power unit. It's a little more complex than that but the driving experience is like an electric car. Going from the Sti to the volt has been just like promoting up from a piston powered fighter to an executive jet. In honesty around town and under 100mph the Volt is faster than the Subaru. It puts a smile on my face when I apply similar torque of the Sti from 0 to 100mph with no shifting. It's also pretty cool to be able to run the A/C off of the battery pack when parked for an extended time too. The thought has crossed my mind a few times to have a volt like 4x4 drive system, under a boxy utility body, with a huge fuel range, with all the traction aids and massive torque an electric drive system could have, and a huge battery for all your camping needs.

Fun fact - the Lunar Roving Vehicle and the Volt are actually related. Both made by General Motors.

Lastly, the Volt dose make this weird noise outside the car at parking lot speeds to alert pedestrians. It sounds like a combination of radio static and a vacuum cleaner or the Jetsons vacuum cleaner. You can barely hear it from inside the car if it's quiet and the windows are down. There is an easy way to disconnect it but there has been discussions about weather you would be liable if you disconnected it and ran over a pedestrian. Who was probably looking at their phone. No, I'm not completely over it.
