I think these are different than those paper wrapped fire logs but I'm not sure. I just think, which is worth nothing, or maybe less.

^^^ definitely different. Those wrapped logs have some thought put into them. They have special flutes strategically placed to help them catch on fire among other stuff to help with initial ignition. That's why I curious to hear how the bricks work for you. Makes me wonder how easy that are to get going without those details that help get the ones we used going.

The ones we used we really only bought to make it easy to get a fire going. Once they were spent the wood took over, but the brick shape would be nice for ease of stowing etc.

"Firelogs are traditionally manufactured using two methods. The first uses only compressed sawdust and the second uses sawdust and paraffin, which is mixed and extruded into a log shape. The extruded firelogs are individually wrapped in paper packaging which can be ignited to start burning the firelog as the paraffin is readily combustible." ..... ( Wikipedia )

According to their website... Enviro-bricks are 100% compressed hardwood sawdust. (no paraffin)

I'm curious what sort of binder holds the sawdust together. I'd want to know before using it to cook (e.g. hotdogs and marshmallows), but no concern if putting them in the wood stove.

I've used them in our fireplace in the house. No, they really don't have that cracking oak fire smell or look, but they are good for getting things started. Used them for campfires as well, but, again, usually just to get things started. Pretty sure they are made of pressed recycled paper.

They're made for enclosed wood stoves. Don't think they'll work for camping ...except as a starter like Carl said, since you need to limit airflow. They can 'smolder' for hours and hours in a good, sealed stove with little to no smoke. Almost makes it like you have a pellet stove if used correctly. I haven't used this brand but used to buy something similar.

I had looked at these a few years back. I like the idea of keeping my SMB trailer clean instead of hauling almond wood. I'd like to try em. But I have a tractor supply nearby and if the square ones work well, I'll give them a try.
