Fifty six years of tornado tracks

I know my occasional postings about West Virginia have limited interest to the other viewers on the board but this one is so freaky I can't help myself.

Quick, Let's play "Spot West Virginia on the map"!

Re: Fifty six years of tornado tracks

I sent the link to my family in Mississippi and Tennesee. Glad I live west of the River.

Be thankful that the WV mountains are protecting the state.

Hi;

Boy, our border sure stops a lot of grief. Must be the snow we get all year... (as I sit outside at 9 pm in 85 degree weather.)

Regards,

Gavin

No worries Webbmac.
I had a similar thought along the lines of "I thought trailers were supposed to be tornado magnets? This proves that's not true since we have more than our share."
Of course due to the hills we don't have really big trailer parks like I've seen in flatter country. Maybe you need a certain concentration of trailers to get the magnetic effect. Either that or a single trailer in a hollow is like kryptonite to a tornado.

With all of the responses so far I can assure you that you have interested readers. I worry about that sometimes too since there are so few of us Easterners here on the boards but we've been welcomed with open arms so far.

Re: Fifty six years of tornado tracks

its pretty amazing, at least east of the mississippi, how packed it is...and then you see a few areas where there are almost none like your WV....and my area of NJ...i remember one as a kid when i was 8 or so...scared the crap out of me and ill never forget the way the sky looked.

tis really interesting that WV is almost void of them and the shape follows the border....
