Firewood - pre bundled and rainproof

Wilson sports a Volcano Stove

we like it
can cook on it
makes a nice compact campfire
steel pan to Save the Whales

wood:
I use the grocery store bundles

They are stored in the roof rack

This is how i bundled them for last years Tour de Utah

Kept em dry and easy to manage

This year for the Tour de Lost Coast
I split em up into loads suitible one fire/cooking event

I put em in a plastic trash bag
then wrap with that movers stuff to hold em together
and keep from flapping up top at elevation in my roof rach

I ran out of bags, so you can see one w/0 the trash bag

Over

Re: Firewood - pre bundled and rainproof

I've seen a lot of campgrounds, not sure about National Forests, not wanting people to bring in wood from out of the area, as they claim it has the potential to introduce non-native species of destructive pests like wood boring beetles to the nearby forests.

I've never seen anyone check or even ask, but just throwing it out there as an FYI.

This is getting to be a bigger problem then one might think.

OK, a little more prevalent problem, and serious problem than I thought. Thanks for the info.

And, that is why I burn lumber. No issues with it.

Of course it helps that I can get all the cutoffs that I want for free.

Lumber is what I use as well. Packs tight and is easy to chop and burn.

Re: Firewood - pre bundled and rainproof

I've never been hassled... but there will be a new law that is enforced at some point in time, count on it. How about someone bringing in fire ants from down south to were we don't got em up here? Same thing. I think if you purchase firewood from the store, its probably been de-bugged and you're good to go. Figure out a way to de-bug your own wood. That might work but you gotta kill the eggs/hatchlings as well.
