Re: For the hopeless 1970's car movie adict.
The author of Duel, Richard Matheson, died just two weeks ago. It's a shame that more people don't recognize the name since everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE has seen his work. There's the Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner where there is a monster on the plane wing that only he sees, "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet". Speaking of William Shatner, Matheson also wrote the Star Trek episode "The Enemy Within" where Capt. Kirk is split by the transporter into two different personalities. How about the Zuni warrior doll that tries to kill Karen Black in "Trilogy Of Terror" or one of best scary movies ever "The Legend Of Hell House". You know that Vincent Price movie "Last Man On Earth" that was remade with Charlton Heston as "The Omega Man" then a third time as "I Am Legend" with Will Smith? They were all based on a Richard Matheson story.
I could go on and on but it's always surprised me how he's not better known.
PS. The Vincent Price version is closest to the original story "I Am Legend".
