Google Earth (android) expert?

Was playing around with Google Earth on my Android tablet, and I wanted to put a placemark on a particular spot, but I can't figure out a way to do it like I can on my laptop. Did some searching on the web, and it seems to be a long-term issue with Google Earth on Android (though it seems to work on Apple mobile devices ).

So, I put down a placemark on G.E. on my laptop, and exported the kmz file to my tablet. I am able to open the file and see the placemark where it should be on my tablet's G.E., but I don't see that there's a way to save it.

Can anyone help?

thanks,
Herb

Do you not just hold your finger down on the spot for a moment and it pops up? That's the way mine works.

Google Maps - yes, Google Earth - no.

Are you using an Android-based phone/tablet, or an Apple-based phone/tablet?

Oh. Oops. I was thinking of Google Maps. Currently an Apple but I've used several. I thought I remembered them all being the same though.

Yeah, why on earth should there be any difference between how Google Maps and Google Earth operate? Must be different divisions @ Google who don't talk to each other.

I had to take Google earth off my Android. It sucked down the battery FAST. That and Skype were pretty no go's on my Android. With either app I couldn't really use them long unless I was plugged in.

Agree. While I understand mapping and navigation apps that need to constantly search for GPS signals, and consequently sucking the battery life, it's amazing how many other apps want to locate and track the user.

Between flying a lot on commercial airliners and giving my son a limited amount of time on my tablet, I've learned to keep my tablet in Airplane Mode unless I specifically need the connectivity for something I'm actively doing. Saves on battery life, and just s little less low-level, close proximity, radiation for my son.
