Re: I hate hail

Sorry to hear about the damage. Someone (carringb ?) answered that hood question sometime back IIRC and thought it was an 08 and newer thing with the later models being metal.

Just curious, does one need special insurance for damage considered an act of God?

Re: I hate hail

Bummer about the damage. I'm glad to hear the solar panels survived though, and wonder what brand and type they are. I just ordered some and hope they will be damage resistant, but if sheetmetal got damaged your panels must be pretty tough. Best of luck with your insurance.............

Re: I hate hail

Just checked our two vans for hood material:

Both fiberglass
2003 E350 SD XLT EB-15 Passenger (no logo. Orig F/g hood was replaced under warranty in 2005 with a new f/g hood)
2002 E350 SD Cargo EB (has logo)

Re: I hate hail

I wish the hood had been fiberglass! The couple small - almost unnoticeable pings in the side could probably stay and not be too annoying and the ones on top I can't see anyway. But the hood... dammit...

Re: I hate hail

Hail almost squashed ME. It loaded the penthouse top with slush and it started to come down; fortunately I had a cargo bar jammed in a corner to hold it, but as soon as I pulled it kaboom!

Happened at Huntington Lake, western Sierra.
