Ya know it just occurs to me what about those ultra-sonic devices that supposedly drive critters off? I'm talking about the ones emitting a tone in the upper frequencies they find unbearable.

Color me skeptical. I tried them in the garage. May have worked at first but the critters got used to the sound.

I have been successful with the flashing light device under the hood.

A few years ago we had a mouse in the van. We did not enjoy a good night of sleep. We now always carry 2 snap traps. If (when) this happens again, at least we have proper tools to deal with it.
