If I was a Ford Van Product Planner

I would put the EcoBoost V6 in the vans.

365hp, 420lb-ft of torque, so use a TorqueShift transmission

Less weight than a diesel or a V10

Smaller, to fit in the van easier. Move it forward to allow a flat doghouse!

Seems like natural for the vans.

That might be enough to get me to buy a new van.

Re: If I was a Ford Van Product Planner

I've been intrigued by the EcoBoost, but from a little bit reading I've done on a forum (Ford Truck Enthusiasts?), the real-world MPG results have not been close to the marketing/EPA claims.

I had been curious about putting one in my Bronco.

Re: If I was a Ford Van Product Planner

I think I'll hold out for the upcoming 5.0 liter Ecoboost

Or... maybe I'll try rebuilding my V10 with direct injection and a couple turbos... Twin-turbo V10s are making their way into mustangs. DI would help keep EGTs down for heavy hauling.
