In your State What's the licence plate fee and the sale tax?

After reading an other post on the fees, I am trying to understand how it works in the

and what are the amounts involved.

Are the licence plate fees based on: Value of SMB, Engine size, power (HP) or other criterias?

In your state what's the amount of $$$ you have to pay for the licence plate fees for a SMB (RV) and what % is the sales tax.

Thank you for the answers, might help me register my futur van in the cheapest place if I can choose

It varies by state.

In California, there is a base fee and an amount that increases as the $$ value increases. Then, it drops every year for the first 10-15 years or so.

When I was in Iowa, it was a flat fee - value, engine, etc. had no effect on the fee.

Hello Andrew. Here in Montana (the state, not the canton) the sales tax is zero, and the RV registration fee is under $200 US. For a new $30,000 US car, you would pay around $600 US for the first year's licensing fee.

In Wisconsin we pay a set fee of $75.00 for our B. I believe all trucks and cars are charged the same amount. When purchasing the vehicle we paid a 5% sales tax on the amount of the B.

Here is the cost for fees for a 2009 model bought today in California based on a sales price of $100,000
It ain't pretty. To help solve California's budget problem, our wonderful State Government is talking about tripling (x3) the registration component starting next year.
