Can’t say I’m disappointed.

Me neither. While I see the humor in it there will no doubt be copy-cats. Leave no trace. Or do something like Cadillac Ranch on private land.

Especially with it “reported” missing.

Crazy stuff here in 2020!!
It's pretty vast and pretty desolate out there. It would be easy, or fairly easy, to get to the spot from the south side (I think) and doubtful anyone would be the wiser this time of year. I don't even know if you could mount a trail camera in that country without it being really obvious to anyone who came near.

The BLM press release. https://www.blm.gov/press-release/il...G4s4Jd14DpsDl8

A number of folks made it out there from Flag to have a look, some finding it and others finding it gone but all described it as a shit show with folks parked all over the place.

Obviously i'm not familar with the area so its entirely possible for someone to come and go without detection.

I'm sure once the monolith was discovered and went viral the scramble to see in in person must have been huge. That it turned into a crap fest isn't the least bit surprising, it is quite sad though.

Garage
I really enjoyed this statement:
Still, it is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on public lands "no matter what planet you're from," said Utah DPS in a statement released Monday.

^^^Shows they have a good sense of humor!

There seems to be another monolith somewhere in Eastern Europe although somewhat "shoddily" built according to a news report.
