Motorsport movies/documentaries. Discuss:

I'm not sure if a thread has ever been started about great motorsport movies or documentaries but I think it's worth starting, if for no other reason I just can't believe the shite people are actually watching on commercial television.

I get the Gear Patrol emails and sometimes there are cool articles, like this one:

http://gearpatrol.com/2016/02/24/bes...documentaries/

I had seen many of them and made a note of the rest, but Dust to Glory really got my attention so I watched most of it last night and will finish it tonight. It's awesome if you haven't seen it. Great story about the race, the people and the passion. I'm hoping BajaSportsmobile (Ramsey) will weigh in a little here. I'm not sure if he's in it but I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe some of the rest of you too since many are close and get to attend this amazing event. Maybe I can when I retire.

Please share any other great motorsport documentaries or movies here, even if they're just Youtube amateur things. Anything is better than the 'other' definition or reality TV.

Le Mans.

Days of Thunder - this is hollywoods take on NASCAR. One interesting point is that NASCAR changed the camera angles on the track to be more like the movie. They realized that the movie showed the action better.

Grand Prix.

Cool stuff. Keep it coming.

I should probably mention The Bus Movie, as in VW bus. It deserves a mention seeing as it's the predecessor to our SMBs in a way.

As a long time NASCAR fan changing track camera angles as a result of the movie production is new to me---that is interesting.

Days of Thunder was sorta kinda about the relationship between Harry Hyde and Tim Richmond when mega-car owner Rick Hendrick was in his early days. To me the real story of those two was/is far better than the movie. That's from a fan's perspective though so keep that in mind.

If you'd like to see some great stunt driving, unfortunately part of an otherwise lame movie get a copy of The Driver starring Ryan O'Neal---the first 15 minutes is a lot of fun.

For me, hands down favorite is Dust to Glory. Have the DVD, but need to keep searching for the Blu Ray version. Last I checked, it was only available in Europe if you wanted Blu Ray.
