New addition to my SMB coming soon...
...a son!
I have been off the forum for a month this week. But I have a good excuse. Preparing for our first born. Kristin and I are having a son in November. We are very excited. It is also both sets of our parents first grandchild.
So that is my excuse for being away awhile. actually we have been busy getting the house ready, doing our last big trip for awhile (to Hawaii) and also some other short trips too.
I already mentioned to my wife that I want to get an Adventure Trailer to tow behind the SMB.
She said how about researching strollers instead. Yes boss.

CONGRATS.
Our son is just about 3.5 years old now. It's been harder than either of us could have imagined, and far more rewarding than either of us could have imagined.
Have you figured out where to install the car seat in your SMB?

Yeah, congratulations, Steve!!!
I've been thinking about traveling with kids, too. I just started a discussion topic on this -- maybe people with kid experience can contribute...?

Re: New addition to my SMB coming soon...
Congratulations, to both of you and your parents!
Your life will change in ways you cannot envision.
I know one set of grandparents is nearby, so you have a source for baby sitting (baby spoiling is more like it). We are a source of baby sitting for our two grandchildren. Just don't overdo it.
The little ones will be your greatest source of joy and frustration. Just remember - it is their job to test the limits! Try not to kill the little varmits when it seems like they deserve it. That too will pass.
Enjoy them while they are little, because the teenage years can be trying.
Best Wishes,
Mike

So how did you get your SMB to Hawaii? That's a long open water crossing.
Congrats on the upcoming child!

Re: New addition to my SMB coming soon...
Congrats Steve, My two girls are 10 and 12 and the older one is starting to get a little lukewarm about trips in the SMB. She's getting to the point where she would rather hang out with her friends than us old folks. Our next plan to keep them camping with us it to let them invite thier friends and then we take the syncro and the sportsmobile. The sportsmobile is for my wife and I and the syncro holds all the kids stuff. THat way they can be with us but also with thier friends. As far as the camping thing goes the first few years was the toughest for us. Camping with a baby is OK but it's tough with a toddler. I do remember that the washboard roads would always put my irls to sleep very quickly when the were young. Enjoy!

Congratulations Steve, there is nothing better than having kids. My kids love to play in the SMB and pretty soon you can be doing modifications like this. Check out my new flooring. Enjoy!
