Re: Off Road Lights

What about that rubberized spray that is supposed to cover tools and what not?

Re: Off Road Lights

daveb ,
I would imagine that the same Dupli-Color Black Truck Bed Liner Aerosol , that I used on my rear bumper would be a great coating for your hard plastic cover's . I wouldn't spray the inside
though because of the inherent build up . This is a great idea Dave , because of the great chip resistance that this material provides and it lays down very nicely . I picked mine up at Pep Boys and Kragen Auto Parts Stores and it is apparently only available in a semi Flat Black color

Plasti Dip? You can get black at most Lowes hidden in the paint section. I've found it's very hardy on metal, but I don't know about use on plastic and I've never painted with it (although it says you can on the can).

Re: Off Road Lights

While the Plasti Dip works great on many different materials , you should be careful when using on Plastic Items .
The active ingredients , such as Xlene , Acetone , Toluene , Hexane and Naptha will dissolve
most Plastics and because of it's viscosity would probably only be suitable as an exterior coating . I once worked long and hard developing a floating surface Lure for Sharks and Atlantic Barracuda only to have them dissolve after dipping into the Clear Plasti Dip .

Re: Off Road Lights

Our Orchard Supply (OSH) has that spray in several colors and says its the same as the dip only in a spray can. But I could use the bed linner stuff which the flat black and that would fit on my vehicle being the color is white/black tones anyway. I quit spraying off the covers with high pressure water but even washing lightly seems to take off the painted emblem logo. Just another reason for an official Sportsmobile forum logo! Put it on the off road light covers. I might use those peel off letters around the covers outer rim, spray them flat black with liner, then pull off the lettering. Might look nice.
