Re: Poaching Redwood Trees in California

I'm going by memory, but pop tops were almost completely replaced by the stay tabs in my area by about 1979.

I remember Coors had those push button tops for a little while after the pop tops but before the stay tabs.

I'm guessing those cans are mid-70's or earlier.

Reminds me of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville:

"Cut my heel on a pop-top;
Had to limp on back home...."

Mike was here the other day and I took him to my favorite overlook "mini" hike. A quarter mile in just over the first rise was one of those yard sign adverts stuck in the field off to the side. I was pissed that I had to carry it around the rest of the loop- I mean dropping your water bottle is disgusting, but putting up a plastic sign on a hiking trail? Horrid.

Always pulled the tab and put it in the can before I drank the drink. That was unless I was making a string of tabs for the Christmas tree.

Re: Poaching Redwood Trees in California

I hauled all this out from our Leavitt Lake get together. I had to carry the bin from the other side of the lake!!

Well Rob, I must admit that I passed that in a hike around the lake, but I wasn't touching anything like a discarded toilet. You are the man.
