With a white-ish interior, the aforementioned Magic Eraser is my best tool at this point. Not sure I'll ever rid the van of the red clay dust (see avatar) from where we usually camp, but the Magic Eraser is a good start. We also keep a couple of the general-purpose wipes for the van and some dog wipes.

Good thread.

Best tip - I have my wife do it.

Re: Share your favorite OCD cleaning tips and items.

Great thread, everything so far has been mentioned. I believe tooth brush, vacuum, magic sponge (in fact I just wiped down the interior as there was lots of little marks from the previous owner. About 90% better!
I like Mequires vinyl care, it brings back the plastic to when it was new, provides UV protection and it smells good too.

I do need to work on the outside as there are bugs that have to go and a few spots that need to be touched up.

One of the nice things I carry to keep the crap on the outside is a cheap Costco 3x5 that I can take out and shake when it gets pine needles and what not. As well put it in the washer when it needs it. And worse case just buy a new one for about 15. Another is a real cool mat that I lay out next to the van. It drys quickly, folds fairly small and allows the water to drain through it. So even if slightly wet it still doesn't weigh much. This would go into the trailer with the camp chairs and wood.

HOW to clean bugs off the high top

What is this "cleaning" you speak of???

Seriously, the interior is easy. I'm trying to figure out how to clean and wax the high top? Anybody have any good tips on DIY scaffolding? I've tried a step ladder but the reach is too long. The biggest problem is the front of the high top, and that's seems to be where the bug graveyard is located...

I use meguitars quick mist detailer to remove bugs from hood bumper and high top. Just spray and wipe bugs are gone. I also found some carpet cleaner called lifter one. I have not found anything it won't get out. We also carry a dewalt cordless vac for cleaning on the road it works great. It is also good for sucking up all the bugs that come in at night just leave one light on and when the bugs flock to it suckem up

Try the me meguiars quick mist detailer. I stand on the tire and clean the windshield and all of the high top I can reach and then I stand in the seat to get to the top of the front I can get most of the rest by standing on the rear tires and in the side and rear door openings . Hope this helps

An extendable pole brush helps too.

Sometimes it rains here. That washes off some of the dirt.
