Re: Sleepless in Seattle

Sweet!
I've talked bikes and vans a few times with you at GHY, the Worm, and Safeway.

I'd love to check out the van when you get it back!

Re: Sleepless in Seattle

Hey Sleepless,

Nice rig you have there. I am down in Portland; I took my van down to Sportsmobile to have the poptop added. Later, we too our van to Van Specialties (just sound of Portland) to have the interior built out. Sportsmobile certainly makes a nice interior, but I am really pleased with Van Specialties -- they are far more amenable to custom work and they built us exactly what we wanted. The close proximity allowed us to visit and examine the work in progress. Anyhow, just a thought.

Cheers,
DJM

Re: Sleepless in Seattle

Sure thing. I am already dreaming up ideas for the Top and Interior. Pretty sure I will settle on a fixed top for weather reasons and then go with either a sporty interior or van specialties. Not 100% on that yet.

Voyager II seems to be the sure fire choice and then I will more than likely use a local out fit for the interior. Of course that is if I can ever part with it again!!!

Re: Sleepless in Seattle

Are those 37" tires with a 6 or 8" lift? Looks bad a$$.

How do you get the van all the way across the country? Flat bed or on a train or something?

I am in the transportation business so I arranged it on the top deck of a car carrier. Going back I will probably fly out because my sister lives in Fayatnam and I have a few customers around Mt. Airy. I plan on driving the van around NC and then putting it on a Flat Bed from Raleigh back to Seattle. I have a terminal in Raleigh with plenty of drivers going west through St. Louis so that is a piece of cake. Finding folks in Fletcher or going through is the harder part.

I haven't suggested this, but this seems like a good time, Chris what do you think about moving Ujoint up to Seattle? We have a lot of vans on the West Coast, our Taxes are terrible and Cost of Living is even worse, but just think of all the fresh apples and salmon you could have!

Re: Sleepless in Seattle

Ready to go home! This was an extensive build!

I'll have more pics & info posted to the website soon, here a quick run down----

Full DeQuiglification, UJ 8" lift, UJ Onboard Air, UJ rear skid w/ aux fuel tank (whole skid, 37 gallon!) UJ rear overload airbags, new CV rear driveshaft, ARB rear locker, Aluminess rear w/UJ 37" tire mount, posi up front, Bilstein 5100 series shocks, custom front trac bar system. Once all of this was done we did an extensive 6.0 upgrade/repair. ARP head studs, head gaskets, oil cooler, everything else that we do with these 6.0's. Runs super smooth and strong now. Temps are perfect, ready for many many miles of fun.
