SMB Insurance
has anyone ever dealt with RV America Insurance?
They talk about having unlimited towing coverage and Total Loss
Replacement. They also talk about having very low rates.
We do not have our SMB yet, but want to have our ducks in a row for
insurance.
Thanks,

Have you called your agent who handles your other vehicle coverage? Try that first and with that quote in hand check other carriers. Be advised it's usually better to have all coverage with one carrier when possible to avoid gaps. Also if you carry umbrella coverage with your primary company over your home and autos a different carrier for the SMB may not be acceptable to your umbrella carrier. Happy hunting.

I was not looking forward to calling our agent and then have to explain why a 2004 Ford Econoline van was worth $55,000. I started to tell her that we just purchased a 2004 Ford E350 van, and as soon as I mentioned "Sportsmobile" she interrupted me and said that she and her husband have one. They have had theirs for 12 years and love it. She knew just how to write me up. Whew, no issues. oclv

...at which point you then told her about the forum, yes?

We do already get a multi-vehicle discount with our current carier (State Farm).
I have found out that RV American Insurance is the agency and National Interstate is the insurance carrier.
Does anyone have any experience with National Interstate?
The premium difference seems very small and NI seems to have better offerings...... and Total Loss coverage as well.
(need to get this buttoned up this week...)

We have National Interstate on ours and even had a small claim with no problems. Like their full coverage in Mexico too. Just have to get Mexican liability insurance to make the N.I. insurance legal down here.

SMB Insurance
I have AON as the agency/broker and a policy with National Interstate. i've been with them for a number of years and used their towing a couple of times with a previous motorhome. Their people are helpful and the rates seem reasonable.

I just called Rv/America today and those of you insured through them may want to check your policy if you do not have a permanently installed toilet. What I was told is that if it does not have a permnant tiolet they will only insure it as a van, which means that in the event that the van was totaled they would only pay to replace the van. That means you would recieve $37,000 or so for your $100,000 Sportsmobile.

I got my policy in the mail just today, so I will check it out.
...and could it come down to the definition of what "permamently installed" is? My potti is permanently installed in that it has a specially designed storage spot. It however is not plumbed in place.
