Just ran into this rig at City Market gas pumps in Moab.

The couple just finished the homebrewed Quigley/Ambulance/Westfalia a few hours ago and were heading out of town to British Columbia after fueling up.

They have an old westy that they just parted out and most of the interior (and the westy pop top!) is in/on the van.

Just remembered that I also saw on Sunday a white Ford Transit pop-top sitting at a trailhead on Cottonwood pass above Buena Vista.

Seems everyone is getting out!!

Slim pickings here on the east coast. Just spent 10 days and 2600 miles driving from PA to Nova Scotia and back, and didn't see one SMB. I did see a Safari Condo pop-top van in Fundy National Park in Canada, and quite a few VW Westies, ranging from two different restored microbus vans, to Vanagons to Eurovans.

Headed to Palo Alto the other day and on the way back stopped at a burger joint for some tea (107* that day outside of Livermore) and a guy at the joint asked if I was back from Iraq. Told em the weather was right. He said he'd seen a van like mine in a central valley town. Where I asked, and I told him it was me. Told me he once lived in my town & jogged by my house every morning. I think what was so funny was he yelled over to his wife "you were right honey, it's the same guy" He lost that bet.

We just spent two weeks in Great Basin, Moab, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Escalante, Cottonwood Canyon, Page, North Rim of the Grand Canyon and back to LA and had only one sighting. A white Penthouse heading toward Page as we were passing them in Vermillion Cliffs, AZ on the way to the North Rim.

Bronze metallic Ford pop-top seen in Santa Fe, NM at the Drury. Wanted to flag it down and take a look but I was working. Anybody on the forum? Seems like pretty slim pickings around here but I've seen a couple whit ones in Albuquerque (or maybe the same one a couple times!)

A Westy pop-top on an ambulance? Now that's a first! The City Market in Moab is a constant parade of overlanders in interesting rigs. I talked to an awesome couple in the ubiquitous white RB50 pop-top there a few weeks ago. Newly retired and on the road for a few months. They had been everywhere. Sometimes you don't see any cool vehicles there though because those rental Class C RVs (back of pic) block everything!

Last Friday, July 1... olive drab/green 4x4 pop-top Ford at a fishing parking lot along the Taylor River in CO. I stopped to say Hi but never saw anyone.

Saturday, July 2, a white pop-top Promaster at Animas Forks, CO. Waved my beer, but they didnt stop. Assumed it was no one on here because I was sure the beer would have lured them in!
