SMB support group for wife's/

My wife wants to know if any of your wife's belong to a SMB support group? She keeps asking "how much was that"!!! poor girl. I love the last one. It went like this. "WHAT $2000 FOR A BUMMPER THERE'S ALL READY ONE THERE" I didn't tell her about the lights and winch! SHHHH.

Let me know I will tell her.

Re: SMB support group for wife's/

If it makes her feel better you can tell her I just ordered 7 HID lights at cost and they still cost me 2100. I have not told my wife yet.

Re: SMB support group for wife's/

I gave my wife four Staun automatic deflators for Valentine's Day. Since they are produced in Australia, they go well with a full bodied zinfandel from down under. And they compliment the ExtremeAir compressor that I have on order for the Sporty.

Ah, just imagine, if they didn't question the small things we'd all have two or three Sportsmobiles. "It was only $20,000! How could I pass up a spare SMB for only $20,000!"

Re: SMB support group for wife's/

I'm sorry to make you fill worse, but back in 2001 when we first saw a SMB at a Sportsman's Show and immediately started figuring out how to afford one, I worked up an Excel spreadsheet of options and costs with the goal of keeping the total cost down to a figure we were comfortable with. Certain things like 4WD and the EB-50 layout were "givens" but I wrestled with what might we need to give up in order to include a hot water system and propane heater and whether we'd use a CB. Then it got to options like a billet grill, something that was purely cosmetic. While working on the spreadsheet one day and explaining something to my wife, she remarked..."We're going to have this van for a long time and use it a lot. Let's just order everything we want and do it right." We ended up ordering our van with the billet grill and just about every option available at the time.

Since then, she has keep the same logic. Our original air compressor was a small compact one which worked but soon realized that it took a very long time to air back up. No problem...when I suggested we might want to replace it, she told me to take the van to Fresno and have them mount an Extreme Air on the van. After Liz e-mailed me one day that they had some extra solar panels available if we were interested in having them installed and I mentioned it to my wife, I was making an appointment an hour later to go down to Fresno again.

Maybe it is partly due to the fact that she has always like cars. Before I met her, she used to drag race in Friday night grudge matches...and beat the guys!

Re: SMB support group for wife's/

Lucky Bastard!!
My wife works for a Non-Profit. And from what I can tell those Non Profit people have a very strange way of looking at things. at least the one's I've met. I'm talking about that "NEED LESS" philosophy. I try to explain that its not that I want people to think I'm cool because I have very cool toys. It's because I "want" really cool toy's. Its funny, I remind her from time to time the the best date she ever had (her admission) was on a rainy day in Yellowstone on "one" of my really cool Harleys! that works for about 45min.
The one thing that does help is that the last Van the 1981 Ford 2wd made it 8000 miles with out even a hickup last summer on our Alaska trip. After I poured a sack full of money in it of course, before we left. I remind her about all the time's on that trip and others when she would said things like wow that was a great idea or where did you find out about that. the best one was thank god for the portapotty.
I love this stuff and so does she. I even like her nagging about me doing so much research, and when we are out in the middle of nowhere I pop out with something that make's it perfect well THAT'S PRICELESS!

Re: SMB support group for wife's/

For our 30th Anniversary my wife presented me with this plague. We had picked up our 2007 RB50 the week before. It wasn't SMB'S 30th. Ours! Addons still get questioned as to their necessity.
