My 1st Van was a Ford. I got sober 8-18-88 so it's a play on The Betty Ford treatment center.
Now a little disclaimer,
I mean no disrespect to the Betty Ford treatment center on the contrary.

On average, I'm more interested in understanding why something does or does not work, than actually solving the problem....

Well, coming from a VW background of over 20 years... I had a thing for the VW Transporter Double Cab, AKA Doka. The ones that I had were german imports due to them not being sold new in the US. Here is a picture of my last and favorite one.
It was a 1992 16" Syncro Turbo Diesel Triple Knob Doka.
Translation...
1992, Last year oficially sold was 1991 except for special orders that got built late.
16", Kinda like E150 to an E350 but very very rare as there were less than 300 built world wide during six years of production. The rest are considered 14"
Syncro, 4wd normally full time.
Transporter, Vanagon for the US and Transporter for Europe
Tripple Knob, Front and Rear air lockers and a center decoupler for 2wd mode factory options.
Doka or Double Cab, Crew cab truck.
So I got tagged as Dokaman and it stuck as my forum handle. I hope you enjoyed your VW history lesson.

When I bought my Quigley E350, Dale at Newberg Ford said it was the last unsold Black E350 left in the country... Feb 2014 build, March 2014 Quigley conversion, arrived at Newberg April 2014 and purchased by me April 25 2015.

My first online presence was in a forum for the novalogic game "F 22 raptor" on an early mac lc in the 1990's. We were a flight simulation squadron called the hammerheads. I wanted a flying related nickname and I felt I was about as graceful as a pigeon, so I chose the handle skyrat.
My wife thought that I got the handle because I eat trash and poop all over everything. But it's just not so.

I've been asked about my handle in the past. Now it is easier to explain since TSG Media just uploaded a video of my model railroad layout to YouTube:

Fast forward over the "talking head" stuff and just look at my modeling of the Yosemite Valley Railroad. It is HO scale so a 20-foot van (it they had such a thing in 1939, the year the I model the YV) would be about 2-1'2" long. It fills a 20x20 garage. That also explains the license plate on our van...YV 26, one of the YVRR locomotives.

Awesome video, YVRR! My dad built an HO layout, and I put together a small N scale layout when I was a kid. We chased trains in Colorado on family vacations. I'll never forget standing outside the Moffat Tunnel one afternoon, waiting for a train to come pounding through. Sure wish I had the family Super-8 movies from that experience.

Train fan here too, and lots of family history in railroad work. Tremendously cool video! Thanks for sharing.
