Re: Spotted in Baja

BTW, when I was down there last week I guy came up to me in a parking lot and told me he had just helped a family that rolled their SM. No one was seriously hurt according to him.

About 15 minutes down the road I saw what he was talking about. There was a decked out SM, completely totaled. There was only one person on site on the other side of the road standing guard in another vehicle.

This was in the middle of the desert, about 2 hours away from any major town.

Crying shame.

Re: Spotted in Baja

Abreojos does get windy each afternoon, but it was nothing unbearable (although I've heard it can be). The winds were offshore and shaped up the surf nicely. I had the van parked so that the wind was always hitting the driver side and we were able to leave the awning up during the afternoon if that gives you any idea.

Re: Spotted in Baja

Was there anyone kitesurfing or windsurfing while you were there?

Re: Spotted in Baja

In town there were both. We camped several miles south/east of town so didn't see them there. We surfed the beach breaks in the morning, then the long board waves in the afternoon. Onshore winds in the morning at our campsite meant offshore winds at the beach breaks. Great situation
